June,4 is almost here Much Love For 2011 Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure

We work together, meet together and we party together. How about we do something important together, like help end breast cancer? This year will mark our mom/sister/aunt Rehema Barksdaleâ 10th year as a breast cancer survivor. She is an inspiration to her family and friends.

So in honor of her inspiration to others, The Tanzanian Embassy and her family are putting together Team Tanzania to participate in the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure® and we’re hoping you'll join us.

The goal of our team is to create awareness of breast cancer amongst the Tanzanian community in DC metropolitan area; support the women who are survivors of breast cancer; and raise funds for breast cancer research, education and breast health services.

On June 4, tens of thousands of people will gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to make a big impact on the global movement to end breast cancer forever.

Without the cures, an estimated 25 million people around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer – and 10 million could die – over the next 25 years. This is our opportunity to do something about it. Together, we can.

Let's get started today. To join the team, go to http://globalrace.info-komen.org/goto/teamtanzania or NationalRacefortheCure.org. If you are unable to walk or run with us at the Mall on Race Day, show your support by making a tax-deductible donation to Team Tanzania.

Muimbaji Sean Kingston apata ajali mbaya..!!!

Singer Sean Kingston has been stabilized after the jet ski he was driving collided with a Miami Beach bridge Monday, according to his publicist. The hip-hop star was moved from the trauma unit to the ICU at the Jackson Ryder Trauma Center in Miami. The condition of the female passenger is unknown.

“Sean was heading west from the MacArthur Causeway and Miami Beach Islands when his personal watercraft collided with the bridge, and he and his female passenger ended up in the water,” a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission told People. “A good Samaritan tended to the two of them until Miami Beach Fire Rescue arrived and saw there were injuries.”

It is not clear what caused the accident. Kingston’s publicist said the “Beautiful Girls” singer’s “family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time.” Kingston received love via Twitter from Justin Bieber, Rihanna and the Fail Whale.

Hamid Karzai tells Nato not to act as occupier

President Hamid Karzai has warned the Nato-led force in Afghanistan that launching attacks on Afghan homes in pursuit of insurgents was "not allowed" and that patience with the tactic had run out after a spate of civilian casualties.

"Nato must learn that air strikes on Afghan homes are not allowed and that Afghan people have no tolerance for that anymore," Karzai told a news conference in Kabul today (NZ time).

He reacted angrily after NATO air strikes on two homes inadvertently killed at least nine people - most of them children - in southern Helmand on Sunday.

US General David Petraeus, Lieutenant General David Rodriguez and the commander of the southwest say Nato's top priority is to prevent civilian casualties and it takes such cases very seriously.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday by US Marine Major General John Toolan, they said the airstrike took place after a US Marine was killed and five insurgents took cover in a compound and kept fighting.

It said the compound had civilians inside.

Toolan said the airstrike resulted in nine civilians deaths. The number differs from that given by some Afghan officials, who say as many as 12 children and two women were killed.

The mistaken killing of civilians by foreign troops, usually during air strikes or night raids, is a major source of friction between Karzai and his Western backers, and complicates efforts to win support from ordinary Afghans for an increasingly unpopular war.

Karzai said he had warned US and Nato troops that their "arbitrary and unnecessary operations" were killing innocent people every day.

WAANDAMANAJI 15 WAUAWA YEMEN…!!!

Waandamanaji hao walikuwa wakidai mwenzao mmoja aliyekamatwa aachiwe huru.

A U.S. Parks Police officer who 'bodyslammed' a dancing protester - hurling him to the ground before choking him - is being investigated after footage of the incident appeared on Youtube.

The man was part of a group of dancers taking part in a 'flashmob' demonstration at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington on May 28. They were protesting a ruling by a federal judge, made in January this year, that dancing at the memorial constituted an illegal demonstration and not an expression of free speech.

Gaddafi appears on Libyan state television with South Africa leader Zuma who says tyrant is open to a truce

South African President Jacob Zuma has appeared on television in Libya revealing Muammar Gaddafi's is open to a truce.

He told Libyan media the tyrant leader wanted a ceasefire including an end to NATO bombing, terms already rejected last month after an earlier mediation mission by Zuma.

Speaking in Tripoli Zuma added: 'We discussed the necessity of giving the Libyan people the opportunity to solve their problem on their own.'

State television broadcast pictures of the embattled leader welcoming Zuma and walking along a corridor to a large room and talking sat in grand white chairs. It did not say where the meeting took place.

Gaddafi, seen by the outside world for the first time since May 11, was shown thrusting his fist in the air as he bid farewell to the president, who was seen boarding a plane at the end of the visit. It was Zuma's second visit since the conflict began in February. Zuma's previous trip made little progress because Gaddafi has refused to end his 41-year-old rule, while rebel leaders say that is a precondition for any truce.

However, the latest development comes as a group of top Libyan army officers who defected from Gaddafi's regime appealed to fellow soldiers to join the revolt.
The eight officers, including five generals, today issued their plea from Italy - in a bid to end Gaddafi's 40-year rule.

Italian Foreign Ministry officials presented the generals, two colonels and a major to reporters in Rome - three days after they had fled Libya.. The defections come two months after that of Libyan foreign minister and former espionage chief Moussa Koussa and the resignation of senior diplomat Ali Abdussalm Treki.
In Rome, one of the defecting officers, who identified himself as General Oun Ali Oun, told reporters: 'What is happening to our people has frightened us.

'There is a lot of killing, genocide ... violence against women. No wise, rational person with the minimum of dignity can do what we saw with our eyes and what he asked us to do.'

Another officer, Gen. Melud Massoud Halasa, estimated that Gaddafi's military forces were now 'only 20 percent as effective' as compared to before the revolt broke out in mid-February.

He said that 'not more than 10' generals remained loyal to Gaddafi. Former Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahman Shalgam, who now backs the anti-Gaddafi rebels, told the news conference that the eight officers are 'part of 120 officials who left and abandoned the regime and are now out of Libya.'

Italy, Libya's former colonial ruler, long had close economic and diplomatic ties with Tripoli. But Rome was among the first Western nations to break with the regime and establish formal relations with the Libyan National Transitional Council, that is representing anti-Gaddafi forces.

Gen. On Ali On read an appeal to fellow army officers and top police and security officials. He urged them 'in the name of the martyrs who have fallen in the defence of freedom to have the courage' to abandon the regime.

The general, wearing street clothes like his fellow defectors, denounced both 'genocide' and 'violence against women in various Libyan cities'. Another general, identified as Yahmet Salah, told reporters that Gaddafi had only two brigades left that were allegedly carrying out the arrests and killings.

Mahmoud Shammam, of the National Transitional Council, said none of the funds from abroad, had yet reached the anti-Gaddafi forces. It included those promised earlier this month at an international conference hosted by the Italian Foreign Ministry in Rome. He added that a council representative would go to the OPEC meeting in Vienna next month.

NATO warplanes have been raising the pace of their air strikes on Tripoli, with Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziyah compound in the centre of the city being hit repeatedly. Journalists escorted into Bab Al-Aziziyah after Zuma arrived found a group of around 160 African visitors to Libya chanting pro-Gaddafi slogans and waving flags of nations including Chad, Niger and Ghana, in an apparent show of pan-African unity.

Britain said this weekend it was to add 'bunker-busting' bombs to the arsenal its warplanes are using over Libya, a weapon it said would send a message to Gaddafi that it was time to quit. 'Our operation in Libya is achieving its objectives ... We have seriously degraded Gaddafi's ability to kill his own people,' NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told a NATO forum in Varna, Bulgaria.

'Gaddafi's reign of terror is coming to an end,' he said. Gaddafi denies attacking civilians, saying his forces were obliged to act to contain armed criminal gangs and al Qaeda militants. He says the NATO intervention is an act of colonial aggression aimed at grabbing Libya's plentiful oil reserves.

'America's guardians': Obama leads Memorial Day tributes to fallen heroes... as U.S. suffers its 1,500th casualty of war in Afghanistan

President Obama today paid tribute to America's war dead as he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns during a Memorial Day service at the National Cemetery in Arlington.

He urged crowds at the ceremony to remember the 'enduring legacy' of generations of soldiers who have lost their lives in service, who he described as 'America's guardians'.

And across the country, Americans marked the public holiday with barbecues, parades and vigils to honour the country's veterans of war as the tenth anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks approaches. They remembered, too, the thousands of troops still fighting in Afghanistan, as it was revealed the U.S. death toll has exceeded 1,500 during the decade-long war.

The poignant milestone came as soldiers in the war-torn country remembered their fallen comrades with a series of candlelit vigils and sombre services. Today Mr Obama described America's servicemen and women as 'the best our nation has to offer'. He said: 'They deserve nothing but the best in return, and that includes leaders.'

Speaking in front of an audience of military officials and their families, the president said: 'The grief that many of you carry in your hearts is a grief I cannot fully know. This day is about you and the fallen heroes that you loved, and it’s a day that has meaning for all Americans.'

He said: 'We remember that the blessings we enjoy as Americans came at a dear cost, that our very presence here today as a free people in a free society bears testimony to their enduring legacy.

'Our nation owes a debt to its fallen heroes that we can never fully repay. But we can honor their sacrifice, and we must.' Mr Obama also issued a Memorial Day proclamation, ordering the U.S. flag to be flown at half-mast on government buildings until midday, and asking Americans to observe a moment of remembrance at 3pm local time.

Memorial Day: A Time to Remember Our Heroes

We pause this day in America to remember our fallen heroes, the men and women who answered the call of freedom and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Let us remember and thank them for the nights they slept freezing in a tent or sweating in the desert, for the lonely days they spent fighting boredom and missing loved ones, for the hours they spent sick in pain from battle and without someone holding their hand other than their fellow soldiers, for the moments of sheer fright in the heat of battle, for the wounds suffered fighting evil, for the endless days in hospitals undergoing painful surgeries, for the precious occasions missed at home with family and friends.

For all of these sacrifices, we need to thank them on behalf of millions of Americans who are so grateful. We truly appreciate their dedication to duty. A special thank you to all families and friends, to the parents who raised them, stood by them and made them honorable men and woman. We thank the wives, husbands, and loved ones who stood by them and supported them with their love. Read more

Political analyist Terry Madonna, a pollster from Pennsylvania who directs the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin & Marshall College, said: 'She has to show she can broaden her appeal.

'She can’t just go to where she’s already won voters. But there’s no doubt in my mind the northeast is the least favorable area of the country to Sarah Palin.'

A CNN/WMUR poll of New Hampshire Republican voters last week showed Mrs Palin had the support of just five per cent. Among the New Hampshire electorate as a whole, Mrs Palin is viewed favourably by just 28 per cent, according to a recent survey by the Democratic automated pollster Public Policy Polling, politico.com reports.

In PPP surveys in 31 states over the last six months, just three states had smaller proportions of Palin fans, and all were in the northeast: New Jersey, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. According to PPP, Mrs Palin’s highest ratings, which are in the low 40s, were in states such as Montana, Mississippi, Nebraska and Texas.

In New Jersey, Governor Chris Christie publicly said he didn’t want her help in his 2009 campaign, and since being elected he’s carried on taking potshots at her. In Pennsylvania, she has pockets of support in the rural centre of the state and among tea party activists.

Jim Roddey, chairman of the Allegheny County Republican Committee in Pittsburgh, said: 'Overall, most of us feel she could be an important force in the party, but I would hope she would not run for president.
'I don’t think she has the intellectual capacity or the depth of knowledge to be president.'

RAIS BARACK OBAMA ATEMBELEA JOPLIN MISSOURIN

He’s spent the last six days building international connections with Europe, but now it’s time to focus on an even more important relationship – with his own people.

President Barack Obama is acting as healer-in-chief as he flew over and arrived in the tornado-devastated city of Joplin in Missouri this afternoon, shortly after 2011 was declared the deadliest twister season in history.

One day after returning from a tour of Ireland, England, France and Poland, Mr Obama visited survivors of the worst tornado in decades, which destroyed neighbourhoods and left more than 120 dead.
