Chadema win Arumeru East

Arumeru East constituency returning officer Trasias Kagenzi has officially announced Chadema’s Joshua Nassari as MP-elect after yesterday’s by-election.

Nassari collected 32,972 votes (54.92 percent) against CCM’s Sioi Sumari who got 26,757 votes (44.57percent).

Results for other political parties that took part in the by-election are DP -77, NRA – 35, AFP – 139, UPDP – 18, TLP – 18 and SAU – 22.

Kagenzi said more than 120,000 people registered for the by-election while only 60,696 voted. Eligible votes were 60,038 while 661 votes were spoilt.
