U.S. President Donald Trump also arrived in Paris on Thursday morning for a two-day visit. Trump is to take part in Bastille Day celebrations and commemorations of the entry a hundred years ago of U.S. troops into World War One.
Serving US soldiers will march down the Champs Elysees boulevard beside French servicemen. Officials from the two countries have said Trump's visit to Paris will allow the leaders to focus on issues where there interests overlap, including the Syria conflict and combating global terrorism. However, the two sides have taken very different positions in many areas such as climate change and trade.
